On a white shelf set against a painted white brick background a large cross stitch design sits displayed in the hoop which is a dark brown. The design is on black fabric and features an opposum in the middle of the piece wearing a straw hat and playing a banjo with a bit of hay in its mouth and a jug labeled “XXX” at its side. Encircling the opposum is a autumnal floral design featuring things like leaves, pumpkins, bees, mushrooms, and twigs. Sitting on the shelf on the right side of the piece is a small yellow pumpkin, on the left of the piece is a fake yellow sunflower. the piece itself is 12inches in diameter.

Started this in May as a going away gift for some friends. Been working on it fairly consistently since then. Tonight I finally sewed the backing on. This week it will be loaded into a pizza box and shipped up to Washington. They have no idea it exists.

It feels weird to finally be done.

The piece is in a 12in hoop. I’ve embroidered before, but this was my first cross stitch, and needless to say, I grossly underestimated how long it would take. Luckily, it is a good hobby to pick up if you can’t sit still during movies/TV shows.

Pattern is from Mama Witch XStitch

This was fun, but I’m not sure I’ll be ready to attempt another one for a while.
